How does the fuel pump go in the tank?
Sunday, May 03, 2009 5:11 AM
I have a 95 Sunfire GT. I'm changing the tank and the pump. The pump is new design for me. I've never seen one like this. It's basically a big plastic coffee can type of unit that sits on a couple of sliders that allow the pump body to slide up and down against spring force. This pump is longer than the tank is deep, it does fit if I compress the sliders as I think the pump is designed for. Is this correct? I'm concerned because the fuel pick-up screen will be jammed into the bottom of the tank. Just looking for some advice .

Thanks

Yes the pump can compress into the tank.

Compress, slide in the grooves and there is a ring that holds it in. I am refering to the metal tank that I have.
