So, today I was being a little too aggressive on it, 1st gear, tried to go into second, didn't quite work. The whole shifter moved places to the right (1st and 2nd gear are where 3rd and 4th should be. 3rd and 4th are where 5th and reverse should be). I can't shift into 5th or reverse seemingly because they are too far to the right when I shift. 1st gear is literally straight up instead of left then up. It looks like a rod popped out of my transmission a half an inch or so (it's shiny instead of oilyish where it is now exposed). Anybody had this problem before?
I tried searching, if there is an topic about this already, somebody please give me some search tips.

I found this post but I'm not really sure how it relates to my problem as I've never really worked on any of this before. In the topic above, about the 3rd post down, there is a picture. He put a red box around the part that seems to have been pushed out of the transmission a little. (The rod)
That rod is supposed to move in and out, that's how you get the gears.
If the position of the shifter has moved, you need to take the centre console out and adjust the shift cables where they connect at the front of the shifter assembly... here's hoping you didn't bend the shift fork when you tried the hard shift
Thank you... I'm finally off work today, going to look at everything asap, shift cables first. I'm now stuck in 4th gear. I don't even have neutral. I didn't know it was possible to launch in 4th, ha. I'll update this when it's fixed, possibly with pictures for future searchers.
