Well my service light is on now. I've narrower it down to the running lights however, I can't figure out how to fix it. My running lights don't come on at all and when I shift into gear, I get the clicking for about 5-6 times and my service light comes on.
Both my headlights work and my brights work.
I replaced the relay today hoping it would do the trick but to no avail.
Any help?
Same problem here. I just said screw it because I was about to to the disable anyways. lol.
same problem. and i disabled the drls. problem solved
same here, getting rid of it tho ('00 Z24), too many cavs in one year, up to 4 now, not including the fire
I started having the same problem this past weekend, but strangely I also lost the dome light and the illumination light inside my dash display. Fuse and DRL relay changes do not solve the problem at all. Low and high beams all work. I'd leave the problem alone if the dash didn't flake out (seeing my speed while driving at night is sometimes helpful). Hopefully someone has an idea for Tommy and I to pursue.
my dome works, but no dash lights.....
Ditto... when i drop the e-brake with the lights off i get 5 or 6 clicks and flashes by the drls and by the DRL indicator on the dash and then the service (wrench) light. when turning the headlights on, the dash lights go dead for about 5 seconds and then come back....
All this happened shortly after hooking up my HIDS. (i have the dual 9007 HID low, Filament High)
i guess this is an .org mystery... i'll start doing some research

Attached is a wiring schematic, from what i've read, a resister on the driver side near the headlight housing may be to blame.
I'll have to investigate more later on today

In case anyone cares, I solved my issue. It was a faulty Body Control Module that was not outputting signals to other components. Not a cheap fix, but I have dash lights, a dome light, and DRLs again.
If any of you guys are in Ohio check out the salvage yard in Richwood,Ohio.Am I allowed to post the name? Kerby Auto Parts...sorry mods if I'm not allowed please remove the post. They have tons of J bodies but mostly Cavaliers,95-99. You need BCMs or anything they are hella super cheap if you pull your own.If they pull the part it's double the price.Take your tools and go have some FUN!!!!!!
