im gonna post a video of how it sounds, tell me if u guys have any ideas of what it might be
it also sounds to me like its missing too u'll hear it when i walk to the back of the car near the exhaust

bump to the top... nobody knows?
That's DOHC? I have a 2.2L so I dunno about the 2.4L much.I'd pull the valve cover and check the cams, rockers, valve springs ect. Did you have any oil fouling out your plugs when you changed them? What did the plugs look like? Could be a sticky valve or any number of things. You could pull the valve cover, unhook the battery.Put the car in NEUTRAL with the parking brake set and wheels chocked.SAFETY SAFETY SAFETY. Pull the plugs (easier this way with no compression), Use a socket and ratchet on the crank pulley nut to rotate the engine and check to see if any of the valves are sticking and to check that there is no gap between the rocker arm and valve (I believe that's right on a OHC engine as there are no lifters or pushrods) and to visually check the operation of the engine's valves, cams, rockers, ect. Hopefully it's something in the top end (in the head) so you don't have to pull the engine. I hope this helps or at least gives a few ideas as to what it could be.If I'm wrong about anything people feel free to correct me. I'm used to working on pushrod engines not this fancy Overhead Cam stuff =] Let us know what you find out!

^Holy stickers on the 4x4 batman...
2.4's do not have rockers, Not too sure what it could be.
Did you let it get low on oil, If so, I'd put my money on a spun rod bearing.

^ LoL yeah I know the car was like that when I purchased it.I'm going to be peeling them and doing body work and paint this summer I hope. Thanks for pointing out the lack of rockers on the 2.4L engine.I dunno much about them but I was tryin =] Can you get to the rod bearings without pulling the engine on those? Like dropping the oil pan and rotating each piston to bottom dead center to get the caps off the connecting rods to get to the bearings? If so that wouldn't be a bad job and it never hurts to have new bearings! $57.99 at AutoZone for a set of rod bearings for a 99 Sunfire 2.4L.
