Hi, My check engine light came on..I scanned it with my cheapo scanner, it pulled up a 445, which the book says, evap canister system large leak. Anybody had this and where to start? Pics would be nice. Thanks
Check to see if your gas cap is loose or missing to start.
Gas cap is fine, in fact I bought a new one anyway...light still comes on. I've checked around the engine and the back of the car where the tank is and can't find any hoses broken or off.
Ok, I finally read the sticky...The 445 code says: Evaporative emission control system purge control valve circuit shorted. I wonder if I would change the purge valve by the rear wheel that maybe that would fix the problem? Any ideas on this?
Oops, I think the one by the tank is the vent valve, the purge valve appears to be on the motor.
My mistake, memories getting bad code is 455 instead of 445. Evap system leak. I guess I'll have to start checking hoses.
I think I may have fixed the problem, not sure yet but I added an extra gasket to the gas cap to tighten it up. Light has stayed off so far.
