so today i was on my way to school and i went over a man hole and my brake light and abs light came on than when i was pulling into my school they went off. so on my way home both lights came back on. so when i got home i resetted my computer by taking the battery out and letting it sit. and i put it all back and i started the car and they came back. what can be causing this??
First off you need to have it scanned in order to determine what is causing the ABS system to malfunction.
Hi
Was there a cover on the man hole? I don't see any relation unless between the two unless the manhole made the wheels do something the don't normally do. Were they paving and they milled around it so it stood proud of the asphalt around it? sunken into the asphalt making a big pot hole? Manholes are generally flush with the asphalt and make no difference at all.
My guess is that if it causing suspension movement (excessive/unusual) you may have damaged a sensor or sensor wire. The ABS sprockets can break also.
Jack it up and take a look. Is the side that encountered the manhole somehow different than the untouched side? Anything bent?
What about your wheel and tires? were they damaged also? Does the car now pull or vibrate?
Have codes pulled, that will identify a neighborhood or exact location. ABS can be a real bear to repair AND cost many $$$$$'s.
Dave
the lights come and go over the smallest bumps im thinkin maybe something is lose.
make sure your hazard light switch is all the way off
the hazards lights effect the abs and brake light??
