Help-big issues

Hello 1996 Sunfire SE Coupe 2.2L

I have a couple of issues I need some guidance with. First of all, I just replaced my fuel pump, works great, car fired right up. I smelled a very strong fuel odor inside the car. No leaks under the hood, all of the connections for the lines and the filter are tight, still strong odor. Today I went to start it up, it seems like it isn't getting any fuel. It starts and then dies immediately. Then, another issue arose. now I can't get it to turn over. I checked the starter, it is ok, the switch under the pedal is ok, I am at a loss. I needed to get it running by tomorrow, that's not going to happen. I disconnected the fuel pressure regulator and there was no pressure in the system. I put the regulator back on, it started up by jumping the leads on the starter. It ran for 2 min. Then I shut it off, now it won't start again. I am very frustrated. If anyone has any ideas of which direction to go I would appreciate it.

Just a question, You could have the feed line and the return line mixed up, Thats more likely youre issue.

Good Luck.

Ok here was the resolution. It wouldn't turn over due to a faulty clutch safety switch. And the starting issues were due to the infamous anti-theft issue. Just wanted to update.

Thanks
