a/c compressor belt question
Sunday, May 31, 2009 3:04 PM
my car is squeeling like a bastard and I'm pretty sure it's my a/c compressor. the thing is I just swapped motors and didn't hook up the a/c so it doesn't work. Can I just get a shorter belt and take out the a/c unit? I'm not going to use it anyway. If so, what size or w/e.

I quit my a/c compressor put a smaller belt and no problems, the metod i used to is: 1. with a broken drivebelt or a piece of cable follow te divebelt route (w/o a/c pulley) then take the measure 2. go to a shop asking for drivebelt that match the longitude you haved in the step 1,

Or simple use a a/c delete pulley from e bay.

yea that's an excellent idea on how to measure it. good call. I didn't see any belts on ebay tho.

so I used a wire to measure the belt size I would need with no a/c. I took it to autozone and told them I needed a belt this size, 3/4 inch wide. well the belt he gave me was the right length but only a half inch..jackass. I don't feel like going back down there tonight so I'll return it tomm. Idk if they'll have the right size tho.. we'll see.

or if someone could point me in the direction of an a/c delete pully on ebay, that would b cool

so I'm having a hard time finding a belt that will fit. Autozone doesn't have any and said they can't get any. I might just go to a junk yard and replace the compressor for like $15. Just to stop that annoying squeeling..
