Only when i'm moving though. say i'm driving down the interstate and have to get off, i apply the clutch, the car idles down, everything is fine. tomorrow, same intersection after the exact same time on the road, press the clutch, the rpm's come down, and down, and then the car dies. sill rolling at forty five. or whatever speed. start it up again, its fine. don't even stop. once or twice every month or so it dies, mostly it just idles down to about 400 four or five times, but it's getting worse, and until the last month or so, it never died. so. where do i look. I want to start with a controll moduole, but i'm not sure how intermitten those issues would manifest. I considered a bad or going bad fuel injector. but has anyone else had this kind of issue. have any reccomendations?
I have this problem now with a sunfire ecotec i just put it. It did it with the old motor but not as bad as it is now. I have no idea what do to beside tune it out but i dont want to use credits on something that shouldn't do that anyway. Im going to work on this problem either this weekend or next. I have a motor that has 30k on it and the guy said he had no problems. Its not motor wish or sensor wise. Its got to be in the _uckin pcm. it drives me crazy dieing out like a pos. Like you said only does it with the clutch. I know they came out with a new flash 2 fix it. Ima take it to my chevy dealer and get them to look up to make sure its up to date. I will let you know how to fix this pos problem soon.
its the pcm. supposedly gm has a new flash for it. it also does it in my 02 but mine has never died. it just drops down in the rpms
so when i called the dealer to find out more about this, i was told that in order to check to see if i had the up to date calibration, (which since it hasn't been reflashed ever, and i still have the problem i'd say no to) i have to take it in. at $96 per hour. then, if i don't have the up to date calibration, they tack on whatever for the time they spend dicking with it to reflash it. now were up to $300. roughly. All this to solve a problem that is FACTORY. A result of nothing i've done wrong. to fix my car dying when i push in the clutch. Hmm. I cannot see why it hasn't been made into a recall. Other then the fact that gm doesn't have money to pay it's workers already, much less give them more work to do on cars that they don't make any more for free. So. Can anyone come up with any reason why i souldn't call and get really ignorant with these people since origionally i brought the car to them with this complaint last year while the car was still under warranty, and the mechanic stated (cannot duplicate customer complaint) and that was the end? Anyone?

Sorry for your troubles and I understand your frustration of needing something done that you cannot do yourself. The equipment and the software to reprogram the electrical gooblygook is a multi thousand dollar investment. You can purchase these yourself and do the task. You can remove the unit and send it to any number of outfits that will reflash it for you for between $100 - $300. You can find a local shop that does a lot of modifications on engines and have them do it for you (price unknown) or you can take it to your dealership.
I do fail to see how this is GM's fault? You've REMOVED the factory installed engine yourself and installed an engine out of another car yourself. You now have running problems and this is the factories fault?!?!? sorry, fail to follow your logic here. Even if you had a one year old car and you did to it what you've just done, you've voided the warranty! This is in no way GM's fault......in this instance.
You have a choice to make, put up with the running problems.......or.......PAY to have it fixed.

i can understand how that logic is hard to follow... if your assumptions were true.
it IS the factory installed engine.
it IS the factory installed transmission... (sort of, the factory getrag syncros let go and the whole transmission was replaced by a GM dealer)
it Is the factory installed... well everything but the wheels.
So.
since my car is Factory.
almost completely, besides the wheels, and since a set of thermo quiet brake pads from oreilly's qualify as after market.
the engine is, repeat, completely factory, with completely factory tuning, and completely untouched under the hood besides oil changes.
this makes it COMPLETELY the factory's fault.
Never did i say i put an after market engine in, or a rebuild in, or replace the engine with anything other then what was in it when it rolled off the assembly line.
Again, the engine is completely factory.
so it's the factory's fault.
oh. and in response to the cost of doing business, i understand completely.
Tools are expensive.
my problem is that they want me to pay for them to use these tools on my car which is having a problem because the factory @!#$ up to begin with.
I fail to see how that is good business practice.
had i replaced the engine or any of that kind of stuff, no, i agree, i'd be responsible, pay the money and quit my bitching, but, i have a service record stating that i brought the vehicle to them with the idling low problem at exactly 30827 miles, to which the service tech wrote (unable to duplicate customer concern) And was told it was the way i was shifting and i should "not shift like that". this is all background story which is really irrelevant, but if you are going to give me slack about being pissed off that GM sold me a car that has a problem resulting in it DYING while driving down the INTERSTATE, because of something they did wrong, mechanical or electrical, or otherwise, then i may as well share that with you too. The fact is, that no matter what i write, you will never believe me on any of this, but i can rest in knowing that i am telling the truth and that regardless how much their tools cost, they should use those tools to fix problems on cars that were manufactured with those problems.

i figured you kinda got crossed up in the composers of the two comments, but to be quite honest, i was feeling quite combative, and i took it out on you. I do apologize for that.
I will end up just paying the damn money, cause the car will be for sale soon anyway, and i couldn't sleep knowing that a car i sold has a problem like that of which i am aware. I guess i just don't like the entire situation. half pissed at myself because i NEVER trust ANY mechanics advice or diagnosis of any of my vehicles without spending hours of time researching, which i didin't do, and now that the car is at 85000 miles and i've put up with it for 50k (sounds like a lot, but really only eighteen months, long way to work) miles thinking it was my fault, to find out that the whole time it was something the factory messed up, knew they did, sent bulletins about, and i could have had fixed well under warranty if i'd have just spent more time on here like i should have...
basically, i should never have trusted the stealership, and am going to have to throw down the scratch to fix the problem cause i'm a dumb ass and didn't follow my own stupid rules.

lmao the sunfire is dieing no more when you push the clutch in. i had the damn 02 sensors not pluged up. whooppssss.
