Hi,

Why not tell us what your problem is, No, there isn't a reset button like an electric motor may have. There is a fuse, a relay, rollover switch, and many other safety items the govern the fuel pump operation. What are you trying to fix??

my fuel pump isnt coming on, i was hoping to try resetting it. I already put in a new relay and checked the ignition, but im still not hearing it come on and my fuel supply line has 0 psi. So the pump is shot, i was just hoping if there was a reset i could try. so i could save $300 and one of my days off.

Also do you normally let your tank get real low before filling up? This is bad news for electric fuel pumps.

Hi,

It all depends upon your engine and type of fuel injection, etc.

As a general rule,
Fuel Pump Fuse
Fuel Pump Relay
Roll Over switch
fuel pump runs while starter is being operated
a "timer", when key is turned to "on" the system runs for a brief moment and builds up fuel pressure and shuts off until the starter is engaged
some have Spark recognition system, no spark, no fuel
some have a switch in the air flow meter, if the door isn't swung open which indicates the engine is rotating and drawing in air, the pump will shut off

It would be best to get a wiring diagram for your year, model, engine and see which of these is in your car and where the components are located.

Have you checked for electricity back at the pump before you do anything? Could be as simple as a bad pump. Once again, I really stress that you get a wiring diagram if you are going to delve into problem solving here.

i looked at the wiring diagram in the back of the haynes manual and it only said fuse relay but that was for a general one from 95 to 04 i'm sure that not all those years were the came as far as wiring goes so where can i find diagrams for my year? and what exactly does a rollover switch do i'm new to j-bodies and i never heard that term before.

Hi,

I'm an older J body guy so I'm not sure exactly what switches you have which is why I suggested a wiring diagram.
A rollover switch is just that, a gravity based kill switch so that when you swerved to miss the deer and are upside down or sideways in a ditch with the engine on fire, the fuel pump is shut off automatically to not fuel the fire even if the engine is still running for some reason.

Not true unless you run the tank empty. There is a venturi pump that keeps the basket full and keeps the pump submerged regardless of tank level. You'd have to run the thing damn near completely empty for this to be true. And the stock pump assy. is capable of sucking almost every last drop out of the tank.
