Alright here's the deal... my A/C will only blow cold if I have my a/c set to on when I first start my car.... and it blows nice and cold (recharge is not the problem)..... however if I decide after starting my car... that I want my a/c on.. it will not blow cold. I don't really know what could be causing this... any help is appreciated!!
Is you IAT hooked up? Are the wires being pulled on it? If that is fine them try checking the wiring for the compressor clutch coil. Look for anything out of the normal on it. Without the car in front of me it is hard to guess as to your exact problem as there are many things that can cause the A/C to not work correctly.
what woudl the iat sensor have to do with it?? it's plugged in..
If the IAT input to teh PCM i to low of a temp. (unpluged or damaged wire) the A/C will be disabled. You dont have to believe me if you dont want to but it does affect the A/C operation.
oh never knew that.... will check it out
alright... it's been awhile... I picked up 3 IAT's from a junk yard.... swapped one in and it blows really nice and cold now.... however after the car has been on for about a minute... it will not allow me to switch the a/c on... within that minute I can turn it on and off as many times as I want....
anything else I should check??? the car is going in for a oil change to the stealership (local dealer has a half price offer or else I would do it myself).... and i'll get them to check into it... but would rather not pay 200 to find out its something simple...
Check the wiring and ternimals.
I love how people still think the dealer is out to rip them off when most independent shops will quote you just as much if not more for the same job.
the reason why I call them a stealership is because their labour rates are 110 a hour... where as most shops are sitting around 70-80
wow... almost a year later and a good update...
I decided to do a lot of research over the winter... and was 99.9% sure it was a wiring problem with the pressure sensor.... so today I ripped into the problem...
Took all the shielding off... and carefully inspected the wiring... sure enough 2 of the 3 wires that run to the sensor were shot... cut out a good 4 inch section and re-sodered in some new wiring... fired the car up and the a/c works 100% perfect now...
