My '98 Cavalier sat for a year or so and I'm sure that contributed to the pinhole leak I've got right now. I'd like to swap to a plastic tank from an '00+ but I'm unsure on what all I need to get when I go to the junkyard. Looks like I need the tank, pump(or do I reuse mine?) and filler neck. Also, I didn't see a definite answer above as to whether it was plug and play or what splicing needs to be done.

hey I am doing this swap now it is pretty much a direct swap from what I see, the only things you need is the tank, the ring that holds the sending unit and fuel pump down, and the filler neck.

The ring that holds the pump down will need to be modified a little, it has a lip that comes up and this does not fit under the gas lines so it will need to be ground down flat, once you do this everything will fit together nicely.

I went with a Spectre metal tank from Advance Auto, only a hundred bucks or so and no worries for at least a few years.

Yeah I probably would have bought a new tank just so it would be easier but, really this wasn't that hard either, but I am a student who bought an 04 sunfire only to roll it after two weeks of owning it and then having to buy another car, so I am kind of on a real tight budget, but in the end everything worked out.
