Clutch slave cylinder replacement

i need to replace the clutch slave cylinder in my 2003 pontiac sunfire.

its a 2.2 litre ecotec and i have had a friend inspect it and he discovered that clutch fluid is leaking from the bell housing. I need to know if it is possible to replace the slave cylinder without removing the transmission.

if i have to remove the transmission, can someone please provide as to how to do so.

or a link to how to remove the clutch as that could also be helpful.
thanks

If you need to replace something inside the bell housing.... you have to pull the transmission....

and if the slave cylinder is anything like on a 2.4 the tranny has to come completely out...

I havnt done it on a eco... just a ld9.....

but..... it's basically.

you just put the car up on jack stands

remove the front wheels and axles...

Disconnect the backup light switch, VSS, clutch fluid line, and shift cables.... (and the battery would be a good idea)

make sure the engine and transmission are supported as needed..

Unbolt the trans mounts..... then remove all the bolts holding it to the engine....

then yank it out...

IDK if the subframe is in the way or not.... or if theres a trick like us LD9 guys have with sawing the subframe though....

And you will probably have to remove all the inner fender plastic on the front drivers side to get at things.......

Its basically all the same idea.... but I'm sure theres someone here thats done it on an Eco several times
