I got my kid a 2000 cavalier tapped in the front and the airbags blew. I ended up with another 2000 for parts and the airbag light was off. After mov9ng the bags and derm over to the damaged car the airbag light stayed on. I moved the bags and the derm back to the orig car...airbag light stays off.. I have now used the clockspring and the front sensor from the parts car and still the airbag light stays on. Looking for suggestions...any flags set in the bcm or pcm that need to be cleared ? Thanks in advance.
swap the modules under the front passenger seat. it is the airbag control module
Derm, Airbag (Deployment Energy Reserve Module)
Code B1001. Should I swap bcm's ?
If you've swapped the bags, the clockspring, the SDM (Sensing and Diagnostic module on 96-05... DERM was the 95 only term...).... and you still have a light and code, then you need to get your hands on a GM Tech 2 diagnostic tool to re-flash the SDM to the PCM.
I had the same problem with my 98 to 03 Eco-swap... new SDM, but the light wouldn't go away til I did the relearn.
Relearn ? Can you expand on this please ?
It has to be reprogrammed so that the module can read the new airbags and such.
Do you have access to a GM Tech 2?
