Any body know how to test the ignition coils on a 2.4? I replaced the icm because i had it tested at Oreillys and it came up faulty. So i put a new one in and it still wont start. The fuel pump is priming and the fuel rail is pressurized,so my problem isn't that.I flipped the idl cover and ran a bolt through it to ground it,plugged in the icm and I'm not getting spark to the plugs. Boots and plugs are brand new,i have a new cps along with the icm, no theft light or anything, timing components are all brand new.And how would i test the cam sensor? Haynes doesn't show crap,so can anybody help me out here gotta get this car running again" so i can make some money off your ass"haha had to throw that in there. So thanks in advance.
Do you have power going to the coils? I would check the crank position sensor to make sure it's pulsing. Not sure if you can do this on that car, but on some cars you can disconnect one of the injectors and put a meter set to 12v scale on the connector. Then have a friend turn the car over to see if the injectors are getting the pulse.
How do i test power to the coils? I've checked the wiring and connectors on all sensors, and everything looks good.My crank sensor is brand new so hopefully that wouldn't be the cause.I put some gas down the tb today just to see,and it didn't even try to start,so i know for sure its a spark issue. Is it possible that the icm fried my coil packs?
Oh i forgot to mention, when you replace the icm,do you put silicone grease on the back side of it?Cause the instructions said to do so,and came a small tube of silicone, but my stock unit didn't have the silicone on it,so I'm wondering if the silicone isn't allowing it to ground the icm.Anybody encounter this before?
Yep fuel pump is kicking on,anybody got any advice on testing,if i put a noid light on the injector plugs and they fire, does that mean my crank sensor is working??Also need to know how to test the coils, what ohms should they be at if there not defective? Please chime in need to get this car going, thanks.
Well bad news once again, got to looking deeper tonight and found out something i didn't want to see,i pulled my cam sensor out, and my intake cam never once moved while cranking, man still car is beginning to become a pain,i can only imagine whats wrong now.All the timing components are brand new so i don't know what to think is the problem, anybody got any ideas?????
