I have a 93 Cavi 2.2L OHV that is a dirt track race car. For the last few races, it has been missing. Here is the key--it only does it when I get back hard on the gas in the middle of the turns, until about the time that I reach the straightaway (I usually let off the gas all the way and coast through the turns, and then floor it just past mid-turn). It runs fine going down the straights and into the turns.
Here is everything I have tried so far: replaced fuel filter; checked wires and plugs; checked battery and alternator; checked for loose grounds. I also tried running with a full tank of gas, thinking that the fuel pickup was going dry in the turns, which are high-banked, but that didn't make a difference.
Someone has suggested throttle position sensor, though I don't know if that would make it miss only when I get back hard on the gas. I also would usually think fuel pump, but again, I would think that a bad fuel pump would cause it to miss all the way down the straight as well (when I am still at full throttle), rather than just getting back on the gas in the turns.
Any insight or suggestions are welcome. This one has me stumped.
does it blow black when it misses? possible over-fueling?
Sorry for my ignorance, but what do you mean by blow back?
my 2000 GT does this too, bogs down on hard acceleration, i dont know if its related, but it seems to do it worse when its humid out. that makes me think electrical but i dont know where to begin. any help?

he said blow BLACK lol its ok i mis read it the first time too !
"It's called reading! Top to bottom, left to right... a group of words together is called a sentence. Take Tylenol for any headaches... Midol for any cramps."
its kinda had to tell, it only does in in like 3rd 4th and 5th gear, i dont think thats the problem tho
Ok bear with me... Is it running dry on oil? maybe add an extra 1/2-1 quart for a test run. Is it a miss or just a shutter from dry bearings. Just somethin to think about. You figure these motors were designed for gas mileage not slinging it into the corners. But my first suggestion might be a coil pack my car didn't miss until heavy acceleration i think the coil packs are like 25-30 bucks roughly. (These year cars did have coils right?)
