Brake problem, help!
Monday, August 10, 2009 2:52 AM
Soo last night was cruising on the highway when I had to come to a very quick stop. Slammed on my brakes and lost pressure in them , and the car jerked to the sides a little. Now my pedal is squishy as hell, the pedal pretty much has to be to the floor for the brakes to stary applying, and if I hit them hard at the way in the steering swerves a little to each side. When the engine is off the brakes are firm and feel normal, but when running is when they are very soft.

Does this just sound like air in the system? If so, think it was caused by excessive heat? I havnt done anything with the brakes for a while and nothing that would require bleeding them. Any help is appreciated.

Could this also sound like the master cylinder? Gona try bleeding the brakes in a little bit to see what happens

Best thing to do. Is take off all 4 tires, Inspect thats going on in the braking system, Could have rear wheel cyl, blown, Its possible that u have master cyl problem.

Good Luck.

Well actualy a little later on after bleeding the brakes they felt much better. They feel almost back to normal, just a bit squishy but one of the bleeder screws were stripped so we gravity bled them, good chance theres still some air in the line but they feel much better.

Any chance they just got heatsoaked and some air built up in the system?
