hi i have a 05 cavalier with 2.2 ecotec and im taking my car in for state inspection and wanna go buy new spark plugs at auto parts store and have the mechanic change them out. But have no idea how many i need to buy. anyone know how many i need to get to replace all my old spark plugs with new ones???
Thanks
seriously???
the 2.2 ecotec is a 4 cyl engine. therefore 4 spark plugs. change them yourself you'll save alot of money.

The number of cylinders does not always tell you how many plugs you need.
$ to answer your question though.
It's a pretty simple equation really. But don't worry, a lot of people actually get this wrong,
Its:
(number of cylinders) / (number of valves) *100.
That'll give you your spark percentage. From there, multiply by the octane of the fuel you'll be running, the number of seats you have and finally add in the number of windows minus the operating temperature of your eco-tec.

lol, capital 4.
Haha, didnt even notice it till someone pointed it out. CAPS for numbers are symbols, thought this was common knowledge.

I'll take 21,557 Ac Delco 41-648's please...
Ford 2.3's came with a dual spark plug head..

The old nissan z24 engine had two per cylinder as well.

8726
I run 89 octane and counted the front and rear windshields as windows.

That's only if the engine is sitting vertical. The Eco is a horizontal sitting engine, so it's going to need 23. 22 for the motor, and one to burn the fuel before it hits the muffler bearings.

do yourself a favor, buy a chiltons or haynes repair manual for your car. probably save you a TON of money.

They keep the muffler bearings right by the halogen fluid, right??? (Believe it or not a "muffler bearing" IS in fact a REAL part...mainly used on german cars and commonly known as a "hanger")
Cavalier z24......A poor man's Camaro....close enough, right?

Idiot! It's by the flux capacitor!!
Change the plugs yourself.. and you should top off the blinker fluid tanks too.. it's so much easier to do since you'll already have the back seat pulled out and the steering off from doing the plugs

If he doesn't know how many plugs go in, I definitely wouldn't recommend to him changing them himself.
