My son's 2003 Cavalier with the 2.2 ecotec engine has a problem with the engine cuuting off while driving. It usaully restarts, but lately, he has to hold the key on for about 5-7 seconds before starting. This seems like a fuel pressure leak down problem but not causing the engine kill condition. I was able to see the engine cut off once while it was idling but not while test driving it.
Could this be a sensor issue or computer problem. The car has 112k miles.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Lots of things can cause intermittent stalling out.
You are either losing spark, or fuel, once you narrow that down, you can eliminate more parts.
You think its a fuel problem, has the filter ever been changed? A blocked filter can cause stalling and hard starts

I'm going to get a scanner from a co-worker , and check for codes.I'll change out the fuel filter as well.
something tells me it's the crank pos. sensor. but that's just an educated guess.
