Cam Tower Leak
Saturday, September 19, 2009 9:25 PM
I have been fighting my exhaust cam tower leaking for longer than i want to admit. I CANNOT get it to stop. Ive done everything from replacing the gasket to just RTV'ing it, im at a loss. Anyone else have any issues with this?
I have a lot of oil pressure after my build so its not like they are just loose or something stupid like that.

any suggestions?

my 2.4 did the same thing, i thought it was just the gasket and replaced it and it still leaked. my cam tower had to be sent out and be shaved a bit, i think it was warped or something.

Do you know where, exactly, it is leaking from on the cam tower?

on the back side, where the tower meets the head, and a bit off to the passenger side. not on the timing cover, but just on the cam/head meet

Hey. Sorry I haven't been able to post for a week. If your seals are good, then there are only 2 other things that can cause this kind of leak, I'm pretty sure. Either your cam housing or cam housing cover is warped, or more likely, although it may not look like it, the seal on the end of the cam housing that goes around the camshaft is on backwards. Don't ask me how I know, haha. Good luck main.
