I just got a 99 z24 and the fuel level is reading just over full no matter how much gas is in the tank.
I think it's the sender or the gauge/wiring.
Questions:
When a sender goes (open circuit) bad does it usually read low fuel?
I have read a TSB about sulfur corroding silver contacts and I read a post that someone used an additive to get rid of the corrosion / sulfur deposits. What is this additive, and does it work?
When the sender fails you will have a reading of full all the time

Bad sender, or if the fuel pump was replaced and not done properly, sender could be stuck. Happened on my camaro, but if it was empty and you hit a good enough bump it would register at E.
