Basically I have a tiny hole in my steel power steering line (high pressure) from my exhaust. The question at hand is would I be able to use a compression fitting on the line instead of replacing the whole line. The reason I ask is my dad was telling me he's done it before and it held fine on p/s and brake lines. He manages a plumbing and heating store and says these lines can handle well over 1000 psi when power steering lines are like 200-300 psi form what I've read.
This is it (without flares though):
Everyone shop i went to said it's not a good idea, but it could work. I chose to get the new line and bend it out of the way of the header
does anyone have the OD measurement for the line? I don't have access to the car right now and want to get the right size compression fitting to at least try it out, if it fails, I replace the line and I'm out a few bucks and a little time..
