Just bought an 03 cavalier with 102000 miles. The car ran and shifted great; I've only had it for two weeks and I noticed the motor was getting a little chattery. I was on my way home and while going up a steep hill I gave her a little throttle and it lost alot of power and the noise was even louder. Then I was about a mile from home and it shut off. I tried to start it and everytime I turned the key it would smoke under the hood, now it does nothin. I had a 97 cavalier and I beat the crap out of it. I was pretty easy on the 03 now I'm stuck with no car for my 90 mile a day trip to school and no money in the bank since i just bougth it
A likely explanation, you purchased the car from a "crook" who had tightened
a bad connecting rod and crankshaft with plastic shims.
A few miles down the road after you bought it, it started knocking, then threw
the bad rod through the engine block, and oil smoke is coming out a hole
in the block.
My condolences.
Does your state have a lemon law? Ie. a grace period where--if anything major like this happens--you can seek repairs from the shop or even return the car?
this is why i buy new cars for daily drivers anymore, too many crooks out there.
Sorry to hear about your trouble, I'd contact the dealer you bought it from. If you bought it from a private seller your kinda stuck IMO.
I know around here you can get used eco motors for around $900 uninstalled.
My apologies for the situation itself. The most you can do is contact people/ research your options.
i bought it from a guy who owned a towing company. he said the person had a little fender bender and didnt have insurance so he kept it. Anyone know about how much its worth? 03 coupe, aluminum rims, spoiler, ac, auto.......... I knew I shouldnt have bought it, I never buy automatics, but it seem to run and shift good and I needed a car
my condelences to you on your situation, it sounds like your engines sprouted wings though.

Do you even know what lemon law is, I suggest you find out before spewing this garbage all over.
Lemon law applies only ot new vehicle under factory warranty, if you have to bring the vehicle back in several times for the same problem than you have a chance at getting a replacement for no charge
