97 Z, auto. From time to time I got out and flick the key and won't start. It's not the fuel pump or anything electrical. I only get her to start when I put her in neutral. This problem doesn't occur everytime I use the car. The light in the dash showing what gear she is in still works cause someone said it's not the shift cable if that light still works as you run the shifter from PRN321. Sometimes she won't start even in neutral, so i gotta lift the hood and jiggle the arm thingy that the cable is attached to on the top of the transmission, and then I can start the car. Cause it's only a winter beater and didn't wanna just go out and start buying parts and not need them and not fixing the problem. But would like some help or info if anyone has had this problem. Thanks.

Obviously its the P/N safety switch.
A bad shift cable usually fails and it wont let it come out of gear, or is hard to move from gear to gear.

Put a new P/N safety switch and she is still the same, only starts every now and then.

Main wire was hanging off starter. Been fine ever since. Weird for it to only start every now and then, but oh well.
