Hey,
i got a 1998 Cavy 2200 SFI. When my engine its cold on cold temperature (Duh!) my engine is making some knock.. but when it start to being hot it stop immidiately. Is it normal ? Is there a way to stop making knock when is cold?
Welcome to owning an OHV!
hah
mine does the same thing. Ive personally ownd 4 of these motors, all 4 have done this after about 30k miles.
fresh oil is about the only thing that quiets it for a while.
the only thing I do is start it and wait about 2 minutes before driving it, allowing the oil to get pumped throughout the motor. I generally keep the revs below 2300 before it gets to operating temp.
The OHV motors are just noisy for some reason. I blew one up with about 120K on it and it looked brand new on the bottom end (the valvestem somehow shattered, failure up top... mains/crank were all beautiful).
I wouldnt worry about it, unless it keeps doing it when its warmed up.

Well it has 133k miles now and every oil change on this car was made every 3000 miles and i think this really help for the life of the motor. For the cold start well.. ill stay with my remote starter
Remote starter will eliminate the problem entirely! just start the car 5-10 minutes before you go outside
. you wont hear the knock!
