I know the "is my wheel bearing bad" has been done many times on JBO. AT 108,000 miles I had the front drivers start to go bad. It cost me $180ish installed to get it fixed. Now at 126,000 miles its going bad again. The OE went 108K, the replacement (dont know brand) only made it 18k. Im not too happy about that life span. I can get an OE hub assembly form gmpartsdierct for $163. Advance Auto sells a couple different ones for between $50 and $140.
So the question is....will the OE last longer than the one from the auto parts store? Ill be having a shop install it, but Id like to try and get the best one I can this time.

I bought a bearing from Carquest like $85, and that was over 20,000 miles ago.
OE is best if you can afford it.
Something to think about, some shops wont install customer supplied parts, secondly make sure you find a good shop, axle nut torque is important, too much and it will cause premature bearing failure

yeah i think i need front wheel bearing on the left side i just roled around 107,300 miles. do i need to replace both fronts or just the left?
~1996 Cavalier LS 2.4L (auto)
When my drivers side went out at 108,000 I only replaced it, and left the pass side alone. Its still on at almost 127,000 and still fine.
Ive been getting a healthy hum from my drivers side during right turns lately. Jacked up the car today, left it in N, grabbed wheel and pulled all over. No play in any direction, so if the bearing is going it isnt very bad yet. However, when I spun the wheel I got a clunk from inside the trans...not sure if its supposed to do that but it was surprising none the less.
