ABS/SERVICE LIGHT/TRAC OFF after swerving
Friday, November 06, 2009 5:53 AM
My wife was driving my 04 Cavalier LS Sport yesterday and had to swerve sharply to avoid hitting something in the road. Now I have warning lights that come on intermittently: The SERVICE light with the wrench, the ((ABS)) light and the TRAC OFF light. I asked a buddy at a chevy dealer and he said something about tearing a wire harness on the ABS sensor. Has anyone ever experienced this before?

The ABS light and Trac off, will turn on the service light.

You need to get it scanned to find out what the code is

It's not a code, there's something with a wheel speed sensor. Check the wires going to a sensor near a toothed wheel attached to the rear of the wheel hub.

What do you mean its not a code? You think you just open the hood and the ABS God comes out and tells you what is wrong.

There are over 100 possible ABS codes.

My Service light comes on occasionally, but usually as soon as i shut er down and restart the light goes away so mines probably different.

I have an 01 cavy z24. about two weeks ago my trac off, abs, and service lights all came on. My Check engine light had been on for quite a few months showing 2 codes po480 (cooling fan low voltage), and another code that showed up once but went away and i dont remember what that code was. I knew my front brakes were pretty worn out so i replaced the pads and rotors. My passenger side abs speed control sensor had gotten dissconnected but wasnt broken or bad. I simply plugged it back in and now all of the lights shut off including the check engine light and they have been staying off. Im not complaining lol, I just thought it was weird how plugging the abs speed control sensor back in cleared out the code for the cooling fan (po480) and shut the check engine light off.
