Car Wont Stop Cranking / Turning Over

I have a problem with my car, as long as the battery is hooked up the car will crank / turn over. My car has had very bad issues with the wiring, throwing codes for sensors that are brand new and stuff like that. So I pulled the harness out to have a look at the wiring I found a bunch of crossed wires that some one else had done, so I hooked them back up to where they belong. The only problem I had when doing this was that the wire to the switched terminal on the starter was rusted on so I cut it. As a temporary fix I wrapped the wire around the terminal and soldered it to its self. It worked fine for 3-4 days and then one time when I went to start my car it turned over and wouldn't stop so I disconnected the battery. I got a new starter solenoid and a end for the wire that I cut and hooked every thing up and the car still keeps crank / turning over when ever you touch the battery terminal to the battery. I think it is worth noting that I am 100% sure that all the wires are hooked up like they are suppose to be and that none of them are touching and giving constant power to the switched terminal. My best guess is that the switch part inside the column (where the key goes) is stuck in the on position, do you think it could be this?

No, power is only applied when you turn the key and hold it in the start position, so as soon as you release it, no power is applied to the starter.

Your issue wether you like it or not is at the starter, you have either a wire touching, or the terminal touching the start terminal, if you didnt the car wouldnt try to start as soon as you connect the battery.

Actually I just disconnected the switched terminal wire and hooked up the battery. Then I checked the voltage the wire is giving off 12v, so there is power on the wire. I am now pretty sure that the part in the steering column I mentioned before is stuck in the on position. I guess the technical term for this part is the "ignition switch". Thank you for your response any way though.
