Hey guys I am running into a problem here with my 05 eco, Just rolled over to 94,000 miles.
Lately It has been misfiring in cylinder # 2. I forget the code number. **It also only does this when the engine is warm.**
So I left the old plugs in ran some sea foam through it. Followed the instructions. Didn't seem to do anything.
Next I bought new plugs, ( AC Delco's) double checked the gaps, still miss fires.
Busted out my Haynes, decided to check the Ohms on the injectors, the book says they should be between 11-14 Ohms.
All the injectors read between 13.0-13.2 Ohms.
Yesterday I replaced my coil pack, runs a bit smoother, but still missfires when it gets warm.
I'm not sure what it could be, ICM, Timing chain,?
My dad and I plan on doing a compression check this weekend.
Anyone have any Suggestions?
Thanks!
Lanman31337 -F = fatties = do not want. A little chunk in the junk is ok though.
anyone/?

It could be the timing chain...
How long before it starts doing it?
ICM's seem to be the biggest cause of phantom misfires on eco's.
It takes anywhere from 5 to 15 minutes before it missfire's, depends which way towards town I take. This is after teh car is almost all the way warmed up.

Do a compression test, a sticking valve will cause that

Rob, thanks my dad and I are going to do a compression test in the morning, he brought his tools home from work this morning!

Let me know what you find out. My 2.4 is doing the same thing. some times it runs good, like when i first start it. But after it warms, it will run like @!#$. It's thriowing codes, i checked it out and the only code i get is misfire in cylinder 2
Did a compression check, everything is perfectly fine there.
Ordered a new ICM, picking it up in the morning.

Put in a new ICM today now it seems every other time i drive the car it missfires.
Bad cat, bad injectors, PCV valve, EGR valve?

Only on number #2 still
Could be a injector sticking open/closed
Our cars dont have EGRs, and a PCV valve doesnt cause a misfire

Could be the fuel pump going out.

I'm going to have it scanned again tomorrow. Is there any specific way to clean them, also I checked the Ohms and everything was reading at 13.0-13.1 ohms.

How would I check to see if it's going out? I never let the gas tank go below 1/4 of a tank. Also when I step on the gas slightly it goes away slightly. only really happens when it's idleing

No it wouldnt, a misfire on one cylinder is not an indication whatsoever of a fuel pump failing

This happened to me on my 2.4 the plastic housing the coil packs are in was cracked and I replaced it and my miss went away.
The miss was always the same cylinder.
New plugs, new coil, new injector, nothing then i replaced the coil housing and it cleared up immediately.
bump
I'm curious to find out what fixed it.
move your injectors around see if the misfire follows the bad injector. mark it with a marker or something so you can keep track of which injector was on #2.
Pj I was thinking about doing that exactly this weekend, thanks!
. Haven't driven the car in a week, been taking the bike to work while I can to save on gas.

if the misfire is only on #2 cyl its gotta be something to do only with that cyl, EX: spark or fuel if comp is good those are really the only 2 you got left to look at, so throw a spark tester on it next, if spark is good look @ the injector
