How old is the fuel filter? Also are looking @ the fuel relays as well, And fuses, Could be breaks in the wiring, Causing a short.

Don't go hard wiring a fuel pump, you may end up dead.

Be intelligent and learn how a fuel pump is wired. You'll find that there are a number of safeties built in to prevent you from burning up like a badly toasted marshmallow should you have an accident (I know YOU won't but people do everyday).

Start tracing wires, you'll do best with a wiring diagram.

Best of luck
