hey all, i've got an 04 cavy 2.2 eco 4 speed auto the other day the transmission started acting weird. When i slow down, but don't stop when turning a corner i get a slight jump from the transmission almost like either the computer didn't downshift in anticipation that i was gonna keep going or it hadn't caught up yet. If i come to a complete stop first, no problem but if i slow down take the corner then just as i start to accelerate a slight jump Anyone have any ideas.
Only cheapest solution I can say, I would do a tranny fluid and filter change then take it from there, Hopefully that will help you out.

^maintenence is the key to a car that runs for a long time. oil changes, tranny flushes, proper tune ups are all important things if u expect ur car to run decent.
True Blue, and i take really good care of my car just something i happen to be a little overdue on hence i don't wait 5,000 miles or more to change my oil like some other people do i change it religiously every 3,000 miles. I've been very fortunate honestly i really haven't had many problems with this car.
^these cars should treat you well as long as u change oil every 3k miles(regardless of what other members might say) get ur tranny flushed when manufacturer recommends it, and keep a proper tune up on the car.
Yeah,no worries there i think the only major sticking point is gonna be the timing chain, rumor has it that Jobs right around a grand or so. And with 135k on the clock i'm probably overdue for that anyway, wonder if i can make it all the way to 200,000 on the original chain or if my engines gonna go along with the chain long before then.

Chains arent like belts, they dont need replacing.
Unless you chain gudies are making noise, you dont even need to mess with them

Ah, Wrong information here.
A oil and filter change is exactly what it implies, remove the old oil and the oil filter and put in new oil and a new filter.
A FLUSH generally defines using a machine that hooks into a tranny line and takes the old oil out, adds some "cleaners" to remove dirt, possibly forces the oil backwards through the unit , and in the end installs new clean oil.
A few points to consider
You MUST install a new filter, don't just change the oil via a machine. Using the machine doesn't involve dropping the oil pan, looking at the residue in the bottom of the pan ( a major clue to transmission health) and installing a new filter.
The FLUSH isn't a wonderful thing to do. IF you dissolve or encourage built up residue to break loose, it may already be inside of your transmission after the filter and do unspeakable harm to clutches and bands. It can also re-lodge in small oil passage adversely affecting operation of the unit, often leading to an early death and a really BIG bill.
All new transmission oils are heavy in the additive department, one of them being detergents to clean and to keep the components clean. The very presence of new oil will clean your transmission very gently over time, usually without adverse affects. Just change the oil more frequently if you find that the unit is heavily soiled when you drop your pan.
There is an exchange machine which is fine, no pressurized forcing of oils through the unit, no additives to destroy the transmission. It simply replaces the old oil with new oil. It does the entire unit instead of what just lays in the oil pan. About 1/2 or more of a transmissions oil is stored inside of the various components, this could be 4, 5 , 6 qts depending upon your unit. An engine might store 1/2 qt or so in oil passages which is minimal by comparison.
Even the flush machine users often overlook changing the filter, CHANGE THE FILTER.
Google engine and transmission flush and see how many horror stories pop up about engines and transmissions that were ruined and died shortly thereafter.
Run, don't walk away from a shop that wants to flush your engine or your transmission. They have a great sales pitch.......RUN!!!!!

Rob, thanks for the tip my chain guides aren't making any noise i'm assuming if they were i would hear that from inside the car i noticed there was no mileage interval for the chain either so in that area i 'm probably good. Dave i'm going to look into getting the tranny filter replaced here soon, hopefully that will change things btw on the 4 speed autos i always thought when you cornered the computer downshifted in anticipation you were going to keep going once you made the corner but apparently that is not happening in my case. Either that or there is some sort of lag and the computer hadn't caught up yet, Another thing i heard in some of the last year cavys like 05 ,maybe it was the cobalt i had read something about those cars having a 32 bit computer in the engine are ours a 32 bit or do we have a 16 bit.
