I have a 99 Sunfire GT. Over the past two weeks I have been losing about a quart to a quart and a half of oil on a weekly basis. There is oil leaking out of the back of the motor onto the exhaust manifold and it is burning off and making a tremendous amount of white smoke that comes pouring out of my hood when I park the car. The white smoke also comes out of the exhaust pipe when I accelerate, especially on the highway. The car is not overheating at all, just losing alot of oil. If you could point me in the right direction that would be great.
Check the oil pressure sending unit. My gfs Malibu 2.4 had a major leak coming from it, would sometime hit the exhaust. Its under the ignition cover, at the rear of the head near the trans, screwed into the intake cam tower. Hers got so bad it was losing a quart every 5 miles or so. Its a cheap part, only about $10.

Either oil pressure sending unit, or the valve cover gasket is pushed out

Oil pressure sending unit - I had the same problem.
Me too ... oil pressure sending unit leaking ... lot's-o-smoke when you brake hard or make harder than usual turns
I bet it is the Oil Pressure sensor as well. It is a common problem.

Probably a bad gasket between the head and exhaust cam tower. I have the same problem but mine leaks out the front down onto the spark plugs. Just alittle heads up the top end gasket set is not cheap. About $200.
