So it's been doing this for a while now. I'm sure it doesn't help that the drive from my apartment to class barely gives it a chance to warm up, but I think that had something to do with it finally throwing a code.
It threw a P0132 today, which is a high voltage at the bank 1 O2 sensor.
I've also noticed that when it's flooding out, the fuel pressure is at around 52-53psi at idle, now that is usually the pressure it's at when I'm at WOT. So that was the first thing that made me think it's the FPR. For some reason it's giving me full pressure at idle. The car will flood no matter where the pedal is, unless it put my foot to the floor, in which case it runs like normal, but you cant really drive around like that.
The other thing I noticed is quite a bit of backfiring, which you can hear in the video below as soon as I get out of the car. Unfortunately it seems to right it's self soon after that.
So this is my train of thought, the FPR has gone bad and is putting too much fuel pressure behind the injectors, so the engine is getting too much fuel and flooding. This causes the fuel and oxygen not to burn, so the O2 sensor see's a bunch of oxygen and tries to right it by leaning out, it runs fine for a second and the revs jump, but then it drops back into flooding. Eventually after the O2 sensor sees this for long enough it decides something must be wrong because there can't possibly be that much O2, even though there is, and throws the code.
After the engine is warm enough it does smooth out and stops acting stupid, which has me perplexed.
So what are your thoughts? Would a bad FPR make sense to you?

Paying someone to install parts and bragging about it being fast, is like watching someone bang your wife and being proud to raise their kids.
Mine did that for a very long time, similar to yours only mine would flood on first start of the day like after it had been sitting all night or after i had been at work all day and as soon as it warmed up it started and ran like it never had a problem at all. I wound up losing my starter before i was able to get the situation diagnosed, so i had to replace that mine turned out to be a computer issue it was getting a signal to give more fuel to the engine when it was cold. I finally got the situation diagnosed and they went in made a few adjustments and i haven't had a problem since. Granted that was my case, yours is probably different. Btw mine also had the backfiring prob too, finally got to the point where it was taking as much as 4 or 5 cranks before it would finally turn over and even then it was grudgingly.
Let me emphasize also by more fuel to the engine when it was cold what i mean is it was giving it too much fuel and causing it to flood.
Not that I know what your problem is but if we knew what year, what model, what engine and what tranny you had it would be helpful.
Dave
Dave, i don't know what engine he's got mines an 04 Ls sedan 2.2 eco 4 speed auto approximately 136k on it give or take a few miles.
Well it's in my profile, but your right I should have clarified which engine, my bad. It's in the first post now.
