Hi guys and girls... just wondering what to look for in a used engine and manual tranny for my 99 GT sunfire (2.4 of course). Have two engines lined up from an Alero and sunfire but the Alero is auto and has 150,000kms. The sunfire is 5 speed but has 220,000kms. Just really looking for some tips on what to look for when deciding if i should get it or not. He is asking $500 CDN for the engine and tranny together. Thanks!

Some kind of limited warranty.... (no warranty at all means they have no idea if they work or not and dont care)

Other then that.... lower mileage the better plus the normal stuff you would look for when you buy a car when looking at the engine.

You pretty much just take a chance buying anything used like this.... just make sure they will replace it or give you your money back if you put it in the car and the tranny doesn't shift right or the engine has a rod knock or something..
