It looks like my mileage light has burnt out cause it does not light up anymore. I've had the cluster out several times, just not recently. Is there anyway to change the bulb or is it easier just to get a whole new cluster? Don't want to go the route of getting another one, just am not sure. Also, if i pull the cluster out of the car, is there that security thing you have to do? If so, can someone repeat it cause i can't think of it off the top of my head. Thanks
the bulbs are soldered in place....u can replace them but it is a ton easier to just get a new cluster....u can also try hitting the top of the dash to get the bulb to light again....and there is no security relearn needed as far as i know...i have pulled my cluster multiple times and even swapped a sunfire one and never had any issues...although it may be different since mines an 03...who knows...
hope that helps...

How long do the mileage lights normally last anyway, are they theoretically supposed to last the life of the car or is there an average lifespan of those bulbs. Also, since you mentioned having pulled your cluster multiple times what if i wanted to swap my 04 tach cluster for a cluster without a tach would i have to go pre 2001 since i think 02 and up are tach only. By non tach cluster, i mean the one where the fuel gauge is to the left of the speedometer the speedo is in the middle and the temp is on the right where the tach would normally be. Now another thing, and i forget what year probably the early 2000's somewhere or maybe late 90's they had a cluster with a sort of wrap around tach that went to 8,000 rpms instead of 7 like ours. would those clusters work on our cars, just curious also did they make any 03 to 05 clusters for our cars without a tach or were they all tach only.
so the bulb probably went then? Is there a fuse or anything that could have blown or would that mean the whole cluster lights aren't working if the fuse went?
a fuse would kill the whole cluster among other things. its a bulb. not too hard to replace if you can solder at all. if you can't or don't want to then cluster is the answer.

yeah, i would say it's a pretty safe bet if it looks like your mileage light has burnt out cause it doesn't light up anymore that it would be the bulb itself.
