Thursday, January 07, 2010 6:29 PM
Im going to flush out all my old coolant and refill with new coolant. Ill be mixing the Dexcool 50/50. Anybody know how much coolant ill need after I mix it with water to refill it? Right now I have 2 gallons of Dexcool (not mixed).

Car is a '02 Cavalier 2200.

Thanks.

According to Mitchell OnDemand, your total capacity is 9 quarts. Just a recommendation for you here. When you do a flush, you never get all of the water totally out of the system, so I would recommend adding half of the system capacity in pure coolant, and then topping off with water to get the 50/50 ratio. If you just start adding 50/50 mix, you will end up with a weak mixture because of the water left in the cooling system.
