Timing Chain Problems
Thursday, January 14, 2010 7:29 PM
This past weekend i changed the timing chain on my 98 z24.....due to water pump going out.....
now when we did this i put the time on "time" and put everything back together and when i started the car up
it had a very rough idle, rpm's jumping up and down but when you drive it the engine sounds good with no knocks
whatsoever, i checked for leaks and double checked the timing, looked for any water that might have gone in to the oiling system
i also changed the iac but nothing seems to work...so my question is what else can be done....or things that i might have too look into?

plugs wires etc, all of those good, even though you did the chain and the water pump it could be a fuel related issue just hazarding a guess here.

yeah you said perfectly fine when you were driving it, so something is causing it to idle rough sounds like it's time to do a scouting trip look for anything loose or popped off your vacuum lines all on.
