Hey guys. I just picked up a 96 sunfire with a 2.4 and a 5speed in it. The car is in pretty good shape. the only thing thats wrong is at a idle it runs really rough after like 1500 rpms it seems to smooth out. the CEL comes on and it says that there is a misfire on cyl 1, and it says IAT sensor High voltage. Now today i go out to move the car and when you raids the idle it seems to pop a little bit and its like there is now now power and it won't rev up. Really like the car and would like to get it fixed. I have had a couple of jbody but never one with a quad. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Okay so pull #1 plug and see what it looks like, are the plug wires old?
Have you done any testing on this vehicle.
Your IAT sensor, you would need a scan tool to see what the voltage is and a specification to compare it to, or if you had a voltmeter that would work as well.

I put new plugs in it when i got it. the plug boots looked really new. I have checked little things like vac lines. is that sensor something that the parts stores can test or not. thanks
parts stores will not be able to test the iat, but a good scan tool with live data will tell you right away if the readings are accurate or not.

Will the IAT make a car run rough and pop.
