Hey guys my 05 is throwing the code, P0128 - Coolant Thermostat Below Thermostat Regulating Temperature. Sometimes the code clears itself and sometime I clear the code and it doesn't come back on for quite some time. Could it be that the thermostat is sticking open? My water temp gauge on my cluster is shot, so I have no idea what temp the car is running at when the CEL comes on.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
More than likely you need a thermostat. If that doesn't fix it, then the next step is usually the coolant temp sensor.
Means the PCM has calcuated how long you have been driving and has the seen the temperature it should see for driving that amount of time.
Either thermostat is stuck open, or your coolant is low

Thanks guys thats what I figured it was.
Rob why would the coolant being low trigger the CEL?
