Headlight adjustment...

Alright, so this is pretty basic but I can't find the answer, hopefuly someone can help.

First off, my headlights are aftermarket ones. They fit in well, but the adjustment screw on the one doesn't work. The headlight points way too high, and when I turn the screw it does nothing. The car is being stored right now, so I haven't really played with it much, but does anybody know an easy fix for this? Is it easy to just replace that part? I've never actually looked at how the stock headlights adjust, but on these its like a little box with a long screw coming out of the top. I'm thinking inside that box something isn't catching, because I can sit there and turn it all day with nothing happening.

Anyhelp is appreciated since my right headlight basically lets me see if there are any birds in the trees above me...(slightly exagerating....slightly...)

The stock headlights are the same as you describe. I've had the same problem as you on my stock sunfire lights. Typically the screw breaks. My fix was ghetto and easy. I figured out where I needed the light to point - I then removed the entire assembly from the car and I slide some spare feul line hose over the screw placement to get me the height I needed. I then use a zip tie to keep it tight around the fuel line hose.

The biggest problem with mine, is that because the light points up so high, the litlle lip on the back of the headlight (wherere the front half of the light is fixed to the back half), sits on my bumper, instead of just behind it. Making it look like I have a gap between the bumper and the headlight (looks like a poorly installed bumper, but I know thats not why theres a gap). The headlight is also one piece with the signal light, so its hard for me to just kind of wedge it into place withough messing up the alignment elswhere.

Anybody know how to replace that stupid adjustment screw? Or if it would be easy for me to just break open that little box thing and fix it? Its really cold out, so I don't want to drive 30min to where I have my car stored to fiddle with the headlight, and not know how to fix it. I could try what was posted above, but I would rather fix it properly the first time around.

Take the headlight out and see if the screw is not into the hole. Its basic but who knows who put it in last esp aftermarket. Might just need to fill the plastic screw hole with JB weld if the threads are buggered and the screw should be pointed and thread right into the JB weld after it cures 1st
