99 cavi z24 Wiring Problem ?
Tuesday, February 09, 2010 4:39 PM
1999 cavi Z24, Ok i was having a problem with no lights, I found the harness was all messed up. I replaced the headlight harness and i got my low beams back. I still dont have DRLs and only one high beam on the left. I put a new drl relay and still nothing the DRL light on the dash just flashes. OK now for the big problem When i drive down the street it seems that the ignition cycling or resetting. I will be driving and the radio will reset and the crime that comes on when you first put your key in will come on. This has me goin nuts. I had my friend sit in the car and i moved the harness around thinking it might be a wire but nothing. I then go back on the road and it starts doing it again. Any one had this problem or any idea what it could be

99's do not BCMs......

You have a bad ground or missing ground if you only have one high beam. What year headlight harness did you get? I would check ALL your grounds if your radio is resetting.

The harness came from a 99, we just got a ton of snow so as soon as i can clear some i will check all the grounds. What is the box that is inside the right fender.

i found that it is for ABS. Could i have a bad PCM, I have no power at my DLC or my 12V constent to the radio but i have power to the cig plug. If i am dirving and stop at a light my cluster will spmetimes drop out but the car stays running and then the theft light will come on but the car still runs.

Yesterday I pulled out my PVM and found that it was a refub, so i went to the junk yard and got another one cost 35 buck and my old one. I got home and put it in and I had to do the theft relearn. I then started it up and took it for a drive and all the problems with the radio and cluster was fixed . so i started to get on it a little and the car felt off, it didnt want to accerlate sometimes and the engine light came on. so got home and put it on the scanner and found that i hand a bunch of trans shift codes >:o. So after telling the guy 3 time that my car was a manual he still gave me the wrong PCM. So back to the yard tomorrow,

Ya it was I went through the grounds and my power box and every thing. What made me think of the PCM was i was stoped at a red light and the RPM gauge would drop out and the theft light would come on but the car ran great. I am not sure what all years you can use the one i got was from a 99 cavi but it was not for a manual car and not sure if it was for a 2.4. It runs a little funny and and sets codes i got to go get the right one but all the other problem are gone. You will have to do the theft relearn when you put in the new one.
