Can i drain half the coolant or do I have to drain it all to avoid making a mess?
I would recommend flushing the coolant system, And new thermostat if already done, Just drain all the coolant and bleed the air out of the system, Then you are good to go.

I have a coolant flush kit. Do you connect the hose to the reservoir and just run water through the system out the drain cock? I have the rad flushing solvent, one of the bottles recommended not to use during freezing weather.
I don't have a thermostat and I do need to wait for my garden hose to unfreeze.
The reason i'm doing this is because that pipe is leaking on the exaust manifold and theres smoke. Should I just wait and do the thermostat and actually flush everything at once?
