i gave my 97 2.2 auto cavalier to my daughter, well the bottom radiator hose went bad(small leak, did not overheat) so i changed it and flushed it out . she had to get to work so i put water in it ,told her boyfriend to pick up some antifreeze and bring it straight back-well instead he stooped and bought 50/50 mix(only one gallon)and put it in about 10 that night(hes young-no blame).the next day she called me and said dad my car wont start.i got to her house and found it was froze up(.this was during the bad cold spell we've had here in east TN)than God it didn't bust anything(i guess the 50/50 did help some) and it started today after it thawed out.now its missing.compression test is ok so i checked everything i could, put plugs in it which helped some but it still has a random miss.im thinking it could have done something to the module on the back of the block where it got so cold.i thought about the crank sensor but if it goes out it all at once doesn't it?it had no spark but it would crank when it was frozen.now it has spark and will run but has a random miss through out driving range.any one have any ideas?im sorry for the long post but if you can help i would really appreciate it.thanks
i'd take the ignition control module to a parts store and have it tested. most will test it for free. check for fuel pressure, too.
