2.4 jumped timing bent a few valves, i had the head fixed resurfaced and all new valves new timing chain, put it back together and now when i start it smoke EVERYWERE!!! mainly out of the crank/timing case and thats on just on start up, i didnt drive cuz i diddnt want to screw anything up any more PLZ does anyone have any ideas? ive already spent $1000 on trying to get it running. also the exaust is a really low rumble
i just did an oil change 4qts like always but after i put it back together i changed from conventional to synthetic. i was just out lookin at it and its blue smoke out the exaust and the smoke coming from the crankcase smells like exaust mixed with burnt oil, i still have no diagnosis and am still stumped. another therory is it might be the piston rings but i dont wanna tear it down again till i know for sure.
You either have broke piston rings somewhere or very possible a valve cracked the top of a piston. Either way oil is getting into the chambers and getting burned and sent out of the exhaust. One possibility is whoever did the valve job may have a stem seal that was damaged. Tough to see must remove valve springs to see it and if you do that must have that cylinder on top dead center or else the valve will drop through the head. If you go to all that trouble may as well replace the seals. You can try and determine if its one cylinder by removing the plugs and looking for a fouled one. You might get lucky.
