here's the problem....
Saturday, February 20, 2010 7:21 PM
when i start my car it runs fine, but the cd player turns off when i give it a good shot of gas, and the abs clicks like i am sliding on ice or something (and this is when it is parked, in neutral). i changed the pcm and the same thing is happening. cleaned up all of the ground wires, still happening. checked every fuse and relay, still happening. checked almost all of the wiring, still happening. also, every single dummy light is on, abs, check engine, e-brake, airbag, oil pressure, etc.... and the tach and speedo and temp and gas guages will just stop working completely for a few seconds, then kick back on.

has anyone ever went through this?!

if anyone can, please help me!!!

sounds like a major cpu problem. check the pink wire going into the cpu see if it has power. the cpus in cavaliers are in the worst place does it rain or snow alot around you? if the pink 1 does have power check all wires going into the cpu. with rain and snow everywere the wires going into the cpu currode and start to break. also pull the cpu out and look at the prongs comming out check them for currosion to.

yes pcm, sorry. it should be to near the center to lower part going in to the pcmi think it has a black stripe going down it. test it right outside the pcm though. also unplug the harness turn the key to the on posisition and use a test light for power. do u have the wireing diagram? also check the voltage of the pink wire under the door trim if you pull the trim up right near the door next to the hood pop make sure its not low on voltage. if it is it can do some messed up things to the way the pcm reads back to the sensors. another think u can try is to look at the circit board on the pcm and look very VERY closly for burn marks. also did all the lights come on over time? or did u just get in and start it and it light up like an x-mas tree?

it just lit up like a christmas tree. the only thing that was happening previously was the cd player was turning on and off sometimes, but not ever 5 seconds like it does now!

Hook up a code reader see what that tells you. Sounds like the pcm went haywire on you. Did you try disconnecting the battery and waiting about 3 min and re connect? might erase some bad codes ( and its a free test!)

okay, i got the lights to stop dimming and the radio to stop turning off.. but i still have some dummy lights on, such as the oil pressure, low coolant, security, seatbelt, and airbag. and my tach is not working at all anymore. can anyone help me out? what wire controls the tach going to the cluster and what where does it connect in the engine bay? ignition control module? anyone help?
