I flushed the radiator and the small hose that comes out of the coolant crossover pipe which leads to heater core I think.
I ran the car for more than 30 mins to try and get what i think is air out of the system. I can hear burping noise under the dash and futher near the reservoir.
Whats the proper way to get the air out. Its also not taking in the same amount of fluid that came out during the draining process. At some point Low coolant light came on so I turned it off then added more to bring it to the level marking.
Any tips would be greatly appreciated. This is my first coolant flush.
No heat as in while im running the fan on high with max heat setting, no actual heat is comming out, just cold air. Even though the temp gauge is 4 notches above 90 Celcius.
best way to get the air out is to run it while its jacked up really high on the pas side. if it dont work i had the same problem and i had to change the watter pump cuz the fan broke off the rod it and just sat their. so if you get all the air out and it still overheats it is the pump, and if its a 2.4 make sure you use the orange antifreeze. im not sure about the 2.2 though
Sounds like the thermostat is not opening. That would cause the car to overheat and not get any heat out of the heater core. Also would cause it to trap air in the system.
I was able to get the majority of the air out just by running it with the rad cap off and letting it burp. then letting it cool and repeating it. The only thing is I performed this coolant flush in freezing Ontario temperature. Would the siting water in the system freeze up and cause any problems at first until it all thawed. There was an hour delay before I was able to put the coolant back in the system.
I bought a thermostat, but now its seems okay. but get to operating temperature a bit faster than usual. Could there be a small amount of air left and too much water to coolant ratio?

Dont worry too much about the air in the system. It works its way out rather quickly once the car is running. Yes if there is a high amount of water to coolant ratio the water can freeze and take a while to thaw out. Usually this will be indicated by the car taking longer to warm up and usually no heat from the heater core inside the car then all of a sudden the car overheats esp if you are driving it with ice in the radiator.
For the air issue if you drive you car a few days check the coolant level as the air will work its way out and the level will be lower, all you need to do is add a little coolant then.
