hi i have a 99 cavalier z24 with almost 114k on it. im jus wondering what kind of maintenence i would be looking to do on the car at this mileage. i replaced spark plugs, air filter, and oil, and just replaced oil sending unit and alternator, oil unit was leaking oil. Car runs real good, but i know there needs to be work done to it like replacing certain parts because of mileage. can anyone tell me what i should be looking to change or should bechanged. thank you. im going to get the timing chain replaced soon too.
not that its really relevent, but i bought the same car 4 months ago and heres what i've done..
fuel, oil and air filter
new fuel lines and gas tank (fuel lines are a likely problem, the tank not so much, just in my case it needed replacement)
new cat converter
cleaned up the throttle body
new NGK plugs (when i paid 1200 for the car, im not paying 80 for delcos.. LOL)
Car runs like a champ now, 159k km..
Now as for general maintenance... pretty much the same as any car.. you take care of it, it'll take care of you... change the oil every 3-5000km, keep and eye on your coolant, dont run @!#$ty gas, keep on top of filter and plug replacement etc and your good to go... i wouldnt bother worrying about the timing chain unless its giving you a problem already..
