Hey everyone!! I bought my 03 cavalier 2.2 5speed 52000 miles about 9 months ago and the car has been great up until yesterday morning when i went to start it. It would just turn over and over and would not fire. After i got home from work it fired right up and runs perfectly. I disconnected the connectors to the crank sensor, ignition module/coil pack, fuel pump and checked them out and put dielectric grease on all the connections so maybe if its weather related it might help out. There are no trouble codes. I also checked the fuel pressure and it primed about 55psi and the pressure didn't drop off when i let it sit. With the engine running its at about 60psi. The pump seems to sound fine. I turned the key on to prime it over and over and it sounds the same every time. Im going to listen for the pump to prime for now on so maybe if this problem happens again i can either rule the pump out or maybe the pump is intermittently failing. I was just wondering if anyone has had a similar problem to this and is there any specific problems that this car might have that i could look at?
***UPDATE*** 100% bad fuel pump. I went to start the car again today and it would not start again. I tapped on the fuel tank with a piece of wood after trying to start it like 20 times and it fired right up so i bought a new fuel pump and will be installing it tomorrow. Makes me feel better to know!! LOL
Change your fuel filter as well

I installed the fuel pump this morning and a new fuel filter too. It was a very easy install. Took about 4 hours with me taking my time including about 30-45 minutes to syphon out 3/4 of a tank of gas so it would be lighter to put back in. I love this little car. It is very easy to work on!!
