I need a new water pump and timing chain.
I also need 4 new tires thanks to the lube shop.
I just replaced the CV boot and axle, and new hub.
I can spend $2200 to get the pump and chain.
Or... I can spend $3100 for a new GM motor installed.
If I do the swap, I will just buy a new pump and it would already be part of the 13 hours labor of doing an engine swap.
Of course, this would dodge the high priced timing chain install and part cost.
So, for $900 more, I would have a 3 year warranty on a new GM motor, no rebuild.
Pump and chain, or spend the extra $900 and get the new motor?
Tires are going to cost me $300...
>:o
Its that or get another car, but I am upset that I just spent $800 on a hub, axle and oil change.
MONEY PIT.
My wife's 2003 Ecotec 2.2 liter Sunfire:
* 2 1/4 inch in and dual 2 inch out muffler Trans Am muffler
* 2 1/4 piping to a very long 2 1/4 inch resonator
* 2 1/4 inch catalytic converter
* an AEM true cold air intake NOPI edition
* 8 gauge ground wire kit
* Toyz front strut brace
* Russell stainless steel brake lines all around.
you can find a quality motor for like 500 bucks (or entire car in some cases).. even double that and the money saved will greatly outweigh the GM warranty.. everyone knows it runs out before the motor breaks anyways.. lol
get the new motor. or a quality used one as stated above.
