I changed both of my o2 sensors, passed emissions, and now I have a CEL code that there is an oxygen sensor heater circuit malfunction. wtf, everything is connected and theres no fuse or relay I can find. Any ideas on how to solve this problem? I used the oem plug and play sensors, not the ones you have to wire in. thanks guys
Clear it and see if it resets itself again.
If you don't know how, simply disconnect the battery for a few minutes. You'll lose your radio presets and clock but it beats paying someone with a code checker to do it!
If it comes back, you've got a gremlin somewhere you need to trace down.

Disconnecting the battery on a 2004 vehicle does not clear the codes.

yes. yes it does. you're just not leaving it disconnected long enough/holding the cables together.

I guess it's a gremlin then. I've cleared it 3 times with my scanner. The battle continues......
yep bosch oem heated 4 wire
you're gonna hear it now... lol
Thats one of the most common things i've seen since joining... avoid Bosch o2 sensors, plugs... likely anything..
Although... i have been set straight about this by my mechanic, He says Bosch makes some of the best stuff out there, but they also make many low priced (quality) items that just really suck... He has also told me not not buy their sensors and spark plugs..
I dont know this for a fact but i have no reason to doubt him, he knows his @!#$.. it would seem likely... many brands have a high and low end, with their high end likely being so expensive or hard to find its not an option..
P0141, it keeps coming back. I clear it, start my car, drive 65 miles to work, and its fine. But on the way home it usually comes back on after startup and about 10 minutes.
you could have a bad new sensor. Try replacing them 1 at a time again.
Get rid of the Bosch junk and get a sensor from GM. I would say that probably 90% of the "I replaced my O2 sensor and have a SES light again" issues I have come across while working on cars were due to Bosch sensors. I will never buy a Bosch O2 sensor from an auto parts store for my cars.
Do any of you guys know the thread size of the o2 by the cat? I deleted the cat and i need to find a screw to plug the hole up. The o2 sensor i have i cant use any more cuz the threads are messed up and wont screw back in. Sorry for the thread jack just thought id ask seeing the o2 sensor came up.
I have never come across a
screw that big before. Maybe try a M18 x 1.50
bolt.
Scott - look around online, they make o2 plugs the screw in.
OP - 99% chance its because it is a bosch. Honestly, try a GM sensor or even a NGK and your problem will be fixed. I ran a Bosch and got the code, then switched to NGK and havent had a single problem.
